The ever-present question my choreographic praxis addresses is; why do we need to dance? Of all the circumstances and limitations that we face in my home country of Iran, fellow practitioners and people are still compelled by a deep-seated desire to dance. It is my belief that this time-based art, where the body is put into motion as form, is drawn from the reality in which it is the way that the dance community in Iran communicates with one another. As a dance artist, this communicative reality of dance necessitates me to find my own language and technique to mobilize during my creative process, with a principal goal of connecting with other people.
